While opening this doc file in google docs to write, I am still listening to the EP Doura Picchi, the recently released EP from a band that never disappoints, a band that always delivers amazingly beautiful sound, always a favorite, The Attempted Band.

EP: Doura Picchi

This EP consists of three songs..no wait, three chapters. Because this whole EP seemed like a whole story. A story about friendship, love, and loss. I have been listening to these songs individually but last night I gave the whole EP a binge-listen and boom, I discovered this as a whole tale and saw what I was missing out.

Before listening to this EP, you should know Mula, the protagonist of the first song Molecule Khondokar. The band published a write-up Mular Obhijan last month on their page where we can get to know Mula, who loved Azam Khan and believed in Multiple Universes. This write-up unfolds the true story behind this EP. I won’t spoil it by discussing it any further, you should read it.

The three chapters are named Molecule Khondokar, Doura Picchi, and Jodi Bolo Ha.

Chapter 01: Molecule Khondokar

The first chapter, Molecule Khondokar tells the tale of Mula, his life, afterlife, and how he finally found his true love. You can imagine yourself as Mula while listening to it and feel how Mula felt throughout the whole journey. Trust me, you’ll feel lucky at the end and start to sing along,

“উড়ে গেলো প্লেন, পাখি হলো মলিকিউল খন্দকার,

ডানা মেলে যাও, তুমি ছাড়া সবকিছু অন্ধকার।”

Chapter 02: Doura Picchi

The second chapter, Doura Picchi is about a long-lost love, denial, and dealing with it. This song will remind you about a lost love that was never yours, which then existed only in your denials to avoid the pain and tells you to love yourself even if it’s one of the hardest things to accomplish while all the memoirs of the love you’re holding onto. The magic happens when at the end of the song a smooth and low-pitched voice (R) comes and tells “আমি তোমাকে ভালোবাসি” in small pauses, you’ll feel your heart melting and leaking through your chest. This is so relatable that at one point you will start to feel emotionally connected with each note, each part of the lyric, and each drum score.

Chapter 03: Jodi Bolo Ha

The third and final chapter Jodi Bolo Ha is the covered version of none other than Chandrabindu’s Jodi Bolo Ha. But there is a massive twist. Chandrabindu’s version was in their usual funky, fun-loving style which felt like a happy song. But, this version is totally different. This version is infused with melancholy and a little bit of darkness. But the amazing part is you’ll enjoy every single bit of this sadness coated ever-green masterpiece and at the end, you will whisper absent-mindedly, “যদি বল আড়ি, তোমাকেও ছেড়ে যেতে পারি।”.

Thank you, The Attempted Band for the EP and introduce us to the multiple universes of Mullikul Khondokar. Always a fan of your beautifully crafted sounds and lyrics.

Also, to the handful of people who read this poorly written write-up of mine, if you still haven’t listened to this extended play, please just find 20minutes from your forever-busy schedule and give it a try. If you love this, well, you will obviously love this, preach it to your close ones. Because good pieces of music need to be heard by everyone. It’s available on their Spotify, Youtube, and Bandcamp.

And at the end, always remember,

“WE ARE ALL MADE OF MOLECULES”.
